Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The police have increased security at the National Police`s Mobile Brigade Command Station in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, following a riot at its detention center on Tuesday night.

Police officers installed barbed wire around the entrance of the Brimob Station in the wee hours of Wednesday and urged civilians, including journalists, to not approach within a distance of 100 meters of the Brimob Station.

Despite intensified security, traffic in front of the Brimob Station ran smoothly without any change.

The police have heightened security at the Brimob Station following a clash between security officers and detainees at the station`s detention center on Tuesday night.

Chief of the Public Information Bureau at the National Police Headquarters Brigadier General M. Iqbal confirmed the riot on Tuesday night.

"It is true that an incident has occurred, and the Brimob and local police have been handling it," he explained.

However, he stopped short of revealing the cause of the incident and the likelihood of casualties in it.

The police are still investigating the incident, he stated while traveling to the scene after addressing a discussion at a private television station.
