"The truck`s brake failed to function and hit a number of vehicles and residents` houses," Brebes Resort Police Chief for Accident Unit, First Inspector Budi Supartoyo said on Sunday evening.
He said Brebes Police personnel evacuated 11 deaths in the accident of a truckload of tens of tons of sugar.
"There were 11 deaths from the accident and about 10 other victims were injured," he said.
Currently, he said, 11 victims were killed and dozens of others were taken to Bumiayu Regional Public Hospital (RSUD).
The death tolls who had been indentified were Amaliyah Dwi Cahyani (20), Hanif Amrullah (37), Yuli Pujiati Ningrum (31), Nada Salsabila Alda (10), Rizal (31), Saekhun (60), Kerempeng (60) , Wahidin (27), and Muhammad Fauzan (45).
