Bangkok (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian team marked the start of Thomas Cup competition by beating Canadian players 5-0 in Group B at the Impact Arena Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday.

Indonesia determined its victory through its single shuttler Ihsan Maulana Mustofa who defeated Antoni Li 21-6, 21-8 in the third party of the Thoma Cup champion ship.

Previously, the Indonesian team collected its first two points through Anthony Ginting who defeat Jason Anthony Ho-shue 21-11, 21-18, and its men`s double Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan who beat Jonathan Bing Tsan Lai/Duncan Yao 21-8-21-5.

Ranked 48th in the world, Ihsan only needed 22 menutes to overcome his rival.

Without any burdern, he played with a combination of net and long rally coupled with a smash when his rival retruned the cock two high.

" I try to appear relaxed so that I would not be nervous at the first appearance," Ihsan said.

According to Ihsan with being relexed, he will be better prepared for tougher matches in the next events.

On his chance in the next matches against the host player, Ihsan said he would see the composition of the Indonesian team by the coacher.

"If I am fielded in the third party in the single event, it is likely that I will meet with Tanongsak. Yet, in principle, I am ready to face any rival," he said.

He claimed to have often met players from Thailand in various events and that he already know their strength.

In the meantime, Indonesia`s men`s double Fajar Alfian/Rian Ardianto beat Jason Anthony Ho-shue/Yakura Nyi 21-17, 21-14, while Firman Abdul Cholik completed the victory of Indonesia 5-0 after beating Paul-Antoine Dostie-Guindon 21-8, 21-11.

"today, the result of the mathes is in accordance with our expectation. Our players faced no problems in the maches," said Indonesian men`s doubles coach Herry Pirngadi.

??The most important thing of the match today is knowing the field. ?"We have to know the direction of the wind in each field, let alone we will face the host Thailand," said Herry.
