Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Muslims in Indonesia will celebrate the Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran D-Day (1439 H) on Friday (June 15), after the Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin declared Eid through Isbat or confirmation hearing about Eid.

Saifuddin made the remarks at a press conference after he presided over the Isbat gathering at his office here on Thursday.

The Religious Affairs Ministry declares Eid al-Fitr or 1 Syawal (Lebaran D-Day/1439 H) through the Isbat gathering every year.

The Isbat hearing was attended by ambassadors of friendly countries; representatives of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Lapan), and Geospatial Information Agency (BIG); Muslims organizations, including general chairman of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) and KH Maruf Amin.

The fasting activities started from May 17, 2018.

In the meantime, Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to hold Eid Al-Fitr open house at his official residence in Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Friday afternoon (June 15) along with ambassadors and leaders of government institutions.

"After Friday prayers, Kalla and Mrs. Mufidah Kalla will hold the Halal Bihalal (act of forgiving one another during the Eid Al-Fitr celebration) with the leaders of state institutions, ambassadors and diplomatic corps of friendly countries, ministers, governors, religious leaders, and community leaders in his official house," the Vice Presidential spokesman, Husain Abdullah, said here on Thursday.

On Friday morning, Kalla is expected to perform Eid prayer at Jakarta`s Istiqlal grand mosque and then proceed to Bogor Presidential Palace for a fraternity meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the First Lady Iriana.
