"Jasa Marga has served 558,182 returning vehicles to Jakarta through Toll Gate (GT) of Cikarang Utama, from the first day to fifth day (H + 1 to H + 5) after Lebaran 2018," PT Jasa Marga Public Relations for Jakarta-Cikampek, Irwansyah, stated in Bekasi on Saturday.
According to him, the number of returning vehicles has increased about 56 percent compared to the normal daily traffic of 356,992 vehicles.
Irwansyah has recorded as many as 90 thousand vehicles, or an increase by 27 percent from the normal traffic of 71 thousand vehicles, on H + 1 or Sunday (June 17).
On H + 2 or Monday (June 18), a total of 116 thousand vehicles, or up about 63 percent of the normal flow of 71 thousand vehicles, was recorded.
On H + 3 or Tuesday (June 19), as many as 130 thousand vehicles, or up 82 percent of the normal traffic of 71 thousand vehicles, was recorded.
On H + 4 or Wednesday (June 20), as many as 124 thousand vehicles, or up by 75 percent of the normal traffic of 71 thousand vehicles, was recorded.
On H + 5 or Thursday (June 21), a total of 96 thousand vehicles, or up by 36 percent from normal traffic of 71 thousand vehicles, was recorded.
"The predicted number of returning vehicles to Jakarta on H + 6 or Friday (June 22) was 105 thousand vehicles, or an increase of 47 percent from the normal traffic of 71 thousand vehicles," he added.
Jasa Marga has appealed to toll road users who wish to travel back to arrange the departure time to avoid traffic congestion, as well as to ensure the adequacy of electronic money balance before entering the toll road.
"Cash top-up service at toll booths is only done in an emergency situation. Citizens must ensure sufficiency of vehicle fuel before entering the highway," he pointed out.
