Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The flame for the Asian Games 2018 torch relay will arrive in Bali Island for a three-day event, starting on July 23.

"The torch will be taken on a relay to some appointed venues," Head of Bali`s Youth and Sports Office Boy Jayawibawa noted here on Friday.

Upon its arrival at Gilimanuk Port on July 23, the torch will be kept at the Tampaksiring Palace in Gianyar District and then carried to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument in Badung District.

Currently, the torch relay is being held in Malang, East Java, and will be shipped to Bali from Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi District.

Some art and music performances have been lined up to celebrate the arrival of the Asian Games torch that will be taken on a relay from Jembrana District in the west of Bali to Kuta Beach in the south.

From Kuta, the torch, kindled by merging the flame brought from India and the eternal flame of Mrapen, Yogyakarta, will be brought to Tanah Lot, another iconic site in Bali, and then taken to the Tampaksiring Palace.

After a night`s stay at the palace, the relay will be continued to Denpasar, the capital of Bali, passing through the Subak Sembung ecotourism area and Bajra Sandi Renon, a monument of Balinese heroes.

The torch will be kept at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument before departing from Bali Island for Lombok Island aboard a flight on July 25 from the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

The Asian Games torch relay started in India on July 15 and will pass through 64 cities in 18 provinces in Indonesia, with the final destination being Jakarta, where the opening ceremony will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Aug 18.
