Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo said the development of infrastructure projects implemented in a number of isolated region and villages constitutes the mandate of the constitution.

"We know that the name of justice and equity is the mandate of the constitution that we must implement them," President Jokowi said in his speech during the Commemoration of Birthday Party of the National Awakening Party at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, here on Sunday night.

According to the President, the government is still developing remote areas to drive the economy in the regions.

In addition, the Head of State reminded the energy of the Indonesian nation should not be exhausted just to deal with differences in political choices.

Other countries have focused on the era of the 4th industrial revolution by developing transportation technology to telecommunication media, Jokowi explained.

Currently, the President added, global competition in the economy is happening.

"Right now we are confronting global economic pressures that we are inevitably facing together, because our great assets are united in the face of global challenges that are not getting easier, but more difficult," Jokowi said.

The government is building a number of infrastructure in some areas including Trans Papua road, Trans Sumatra toll road, Trans Java toll road, as well as seaports and airports.

In addition, the government also provides village funds to the village governments to build facilities and infrastructure in rural areas such as irrigation, village roads and toilet facilities.

In 2015 the government disbursed Rp20.76 trillion in the form of village funds, then Rp46.9 trillion in 2016 and Rp60 trillion in 2017.
