Vendors at the market greeted President Jokowi, who later bought several vegetables and fruits, such as Raja (King) banana.
"Buying those that are not available in malls, such as dried `emping mlinjo` and `kecipir,`" Jokowi remarked.
The head of state was accompanied by Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and Minister/State Secretary Pratikno while visiting the market, which was renovated recently.
Meanwhile, President Jokowi and several cabinet ministers left Jakarta on Wednesday morning for a working visit to Yogyakarta.
Boarding presidential aircraft Indonesia-1, the president and his entourage departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 8 a.m. local time on Wednesday for Yogyakarta.
During the day-long work visit to Yogyakarta, the head of state is accompanied by Minister/State Secretary Pratikno and military secretary of the president, Young Marshal Trisno Hendradi.
After the visit, President Jokowi and his entourage will return to Jakarta on Wednesday evening.
