Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo has stated all the achievements of state institutions serve as a common asset to face a wide range of challenges for the nation in the future.

"As a large nation, we will face big challenges. We all must be able to fulfill the pledge of independence, particularly to deal with the issues of poverty, inter-regional income disparities, and inter-personal income disparities," he stated at the annual session of the People` Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the parliament building here on Thursday.

The nation will hopefully be able to address national challenges no matter how heavy they are through unity, he noted.

"We all must be able to maintain harmony, brotherhood, and unity among us. We must be able to face a cloud of global economic uncertainties and turn the nation into a winning nation. But I believe that as a large nation with strong social capital, we will be able to deal with all the challenges no matter how big they are," he asserted.

With the spirit of unity and togetherness among state institutions, the president believed the nation could deal with all the challenges in the future.

"I believe that with the state institutions setting an example in performing their constitutional duties, we will be able to make national achievements. Our work is national achievement. Long live the Republic of Indonesia. Long live the Pancasila State," he remarked.

Also present at the annual session of the MPR were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, third Indonesian president BJ Habibie, fifth Indonesian president Megawati Soekarnoputri, sixth Indonesian vice president Try Soetrisno, 11th Indonesian vice president Boediono, heads of state institutions, members of MPR, the House of Representatives and the Regional Representative Council, and ambassadors from friendly countries.
