Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Indonesian coaches have been monitoring the psychological readiness of their wushu athletes prior to the start of competition in the Asian Games on Saturday, along with their physical health.

"We always monitor their technical and non-technical aspects, inside and outside the games, especially their psychological readiness," Indonesian Wushu`s coach Ahmad Rifai noted here on Saturday.

Rifai said that most of the time, athletes are anxious before a game, which is a normal condition for any athlete. So, apart from encouragement from coaches, psychologists have been asked to assist the athletes.

As the wushu`s coach for taolu style, the Indonesian team is showing positive progress in performing in the Asian Games 2018, after having intensive training in China for four months.

"When we were in China, our athletes had some pairing trials with Chinese athletes, and it raised their confidence to compete," he said.

Indonesia is targeting winning a gold medal in two games of wushu, namely taijiquan style and taijijian all round, through the efforts of Lindswell Kwok, who is the world`s number one wushu athlete for taijiquan style.

Indonesia is to send 13 athletes to compete in 14 sports of wushu at the Asian Games, which will take place on August 19 to 23 at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Apart from Lindswell Kwok, Indonesia also puts its hope for gold medals on Juwita Niza Wasni for nanquan and nandao style, and Achmad Hulaefi for daoshu and gunshu all-round style.
