Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla was visited by the Governor of Aichi Prefecture, Hideaki Omura, here on Monday, and they discussed how to increase economic trade between Indonesia and Japan, especially in Nagoya.

"At the moment, there are over 250 corporations that have made investments in Indonesia and they came from our area in Aichi, which also means that more that 50 percent of the total investment made came from our area," said Governor Omura after meeting the vice president in his office in Jakarta, Monday.

The partnership and friendly ties go way back and have been strengthened with back-to-back visits between Kalla and Omura.

The meeting held in Jakarta on Monday was the fourth one in the last 10 years. Omura revealed that he was first introduced to Kalla back in 2008 when he was serving as vice president to the then Indonesia President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The second meeting took place in 2015 and the third one was held in 2017.

"Since the beginning, the relations between our area and the vice president have been well maintained. Kalla, as an entrepreneur himself, visits our area in Nagoya every year, and until now, the relationship is still going strong," he explained.

He believed that the vice president appreciated the trade partnership with the Aichi Prefecture area; even at a time when Indonesia is suffering from an economic crisis, businessmen from Aichi continue to investment in the nation.

"The vice president acknowledged the fact that although Indonesia has suffered through crises twice, Japanese businesses continued to make their investments here, including renowned corporations from Aichi such as Toyota," he concluded.
