The Indian athlete, in his first performance in the senior shooting event, achieved the highest score of 240.7 points to win the gold medal.
The silver medal went to Japanese athlete Tomoyuki Matsuda, who collected 239.7 points. Tomoyuki is ranked fifth in the world and has won a lot of medals from world championships.
India also collected a bronze medal in the event through Abhishek Verma who collected 219.3 points.
Chaudhary is participating in the Asian Games 2018 for the first time, but appeared calm since the qualification round. He collected a total of 586 points in the qualification round. He defeated Jongoh Jin from South Korea, who has won four Olympic gold medals. Jin finished second, with 584 points.
In the final round, Jin didn`t perform well and was able to collect only 178.4 points, ranking fifth.
The final round of the competition was a tight fight, with Matsuda continuing to lead. The 42-year-old Japanese, until half of the competition, was far ahead in point collection, even reaching one digit ahead of Chaudhary. However, in the last round, Tomoyuki could collect only 8.9 points, while Chaudhary got 10.2 points.
This is the Indian team`s first gold medal from the shooting event and the third one from the Games.
India, in the earlier event, collected two silver medals from the men`s 10-meter air rifle and trap and three bronze medals from the men`s 10 air pistol and 10-meter air rifle group doubles event.
