The match between Wilant and Chun Ming took place in three sets, with a score of 3-11, 3-11, and 4-11.
Wilant had gained the first score in the first game, but Chun Ming accelerated the tempo of the game, until finally, the only representative of Indonesia in men`s single had to give up at 3-11.
Chun Ming, Hong Kong`s second seeded player, again dominated the game by making low and crossing punches.
Overwhelmed by the style of Chun Ming`s game, Wilant also gave up, with a score of 3-11 in the second set.
In the third set, Wilant appeared more focused, but the Hong Kong athlete still managed to excel in the field. Despite losing, Wilant was able to add one more point, until the final score in the third set became 4-11.
Wilant`s defeat in the round of 16 ended the Indonesian national Squash team`s step in the men`s singles match.
Chairman of the Training Division of the Indonesia Squash Association (PB PSI) Executive Board, Nuryanto remarked that most of the players who entered the round of 16 were athletes included in the world rankings in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) version.
"So far, no Indonesian athlete has been included in the PSA world ranking list, but we are still competing in the field," Nuryanto revealed, when met at Squash Stadium, Bung Karno Sports Complex, on Thursday.
Nuryanto realized that the national Squash team was not prepared to win a medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
"For this match, we played freely without any burden, but we remain focused," Nuryanto explained.
Beside Wilant, Yeni Siti Rohmah and Catur Yuliana became two other national Squash team athletes who will represent Indonesia in the big 16 of the women`s singles match.
Indonesia has eight athletes to compete in the men`s singles, women`s singles, men`s team, and women`s teams.
Even though it is called a team, there are no double match numbers to be played at the 2018 Asian Games.
