"This is history for the Indonesian hockey team, which managed to beat Kazakhstan, whose ranking is higher than ours," coach of the Indonesian women`s hockey team, Yanuar Pribadi, said here on Thursday.
He praised the Indonesian team for outclassing Kazakhstan, which is currently ranked 34th in the world.
Indonesia is now ranked 64th in the world rankings, as issued by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), we have done more than expected. During this competition, our position is far better than the other four teams," he remarked.
During the game against Kazakhstan, Indonesia appeared to be more offensive than during the games against the strong teams from India and South Korea, he noted.
"Admittedly, there is a change in our game (today) compared to our two previous games, in which we were defensive to play against the favorite teams. But we were more offensive to take on Kazakhstan. At the beginning, we found it somewhat difficult, but, Alhamdulillah, at the end of the match, we were able to net a victory goal," he pointed out.
With the triumph, Indonesia finished third in the group B standings, while Kazakhstan ranked fourth following their second loss.
