According to a ministry statement, the new rockets are of several different types, with a range of 30-150 km.
"This precision fire capability significantly improves the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) capabilities and allows for accurate strikes in remote launches, at immediate availability, and at a lower cost compared to other combat systems," the statement read.
The Defense Ministry did not reveal the exact amount of investment in the procurement but Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman estimated the deal to be worth "hundreds of millions of shekels" on his Facebook account.
According to Liberman, some of the rockets are already in production while others are still in development stages.
The rocket systems will "bolster the IDF`s offense capabilities," he said, adding that they "will allow for the coverage within a few years every point in short and far ranges."
Israel`s most advanced missile system is the Arrow-3, which can intercept the ballistic missiles while they are still in the atmosphere. The system was successfully tested in February.
Israel`s multi-layer defense weaponry includes Iron Dome, a system aimed at intercepting short-range rockets from Gaza, David`s Sling, which can intercept medium-range missiles owned by Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and the long-range Arrow-3 anti-ballistic-missile system.
