He scored 471 points defeating his opponent from Thailand Ilyas Sadara who garnered 460 points to get a silver medal. The bronze medal went to Almohaidis Abad from the Philippines with 455 points.
Sugianto`s point collection in the final round was higher than 467 he got in the preliminary round.
Three gold medals are offered in the men`s singles, women`s doubles and women`s team events.
With the additional gold medal from Sugianto, Indonesia`s total gold medal collection now reached 25. Totally Indonesia has won 73 medals consisting of 25 gold, 19 silver and 29 bronze medals.
