Labuan Bajo is a port town in the western end of the island of Flores and the main access to Komodo island, the habitat of the rare ancient dragon, Komodo, which is not found in other places in the world.
"Investments begin to flow into Labuan Bajo. We are thankful for the government support in drawing investments in this area," Agustinus Ch Dula said via telephone on Wednesday.
The regent said various investment projects such as international standard hotels are being built in Labuan Bajo.
A Marina port is also being built to be completed in 2019 for tourist boats, which are getting more frequent visiting the port town carrying tourist to the Komodo island, one of world`s wonders.
An international airport is also expected to be built in Labuan Bajo to facilitate foreign tourist visiting the Komodo National Park.
The regent said a new port with container terminal will also be soon built in the sub-district of Macan Pacar in Labuan Bajo.
"There are also smaller projects such as garbage recycling plant, garbage disposal plant, clean water facility, roads, and other public facilities," he said.
Agustinus said Labuan Bajo has become a world known tourist destination and has always been crowded with foreign and domestic visitors.
Labuan Bajo still needs a lot more facilities and infrastructure, but he said, he was optimistic the inflow of investment would soon bring modernity to the city.
