Speaking to ANTARA here on Tuesday, the General Chairperson of the Association of Indonesian Aviation Companies (Inaca) on Scheduled Flight Field, Bayu Sutanto, said that such the cost component affected by the US dollar directly or indirectly reached 70 percent, and practically, the burden has also become heavier from time to time.
Furthermore, he noted that the price could affect ticket prices if the lower limit rate was not raised.
Based on an investigation on one of the airlines, the tax imposed on foreign flights from Jakarta to Bangkok rose from Rp2,215,100 to Rp2,229,000 on Tuesday (Sept 4) afternoon.
"Yes, obviously, the ticket price has been raised," Sutanto revealed.
At present, Inaca is awaiting the implementation of the lower limit tariff that has been formulated by the Ministry of Transportation up five percent from 30 percent to 35 percent of the upper limit tariff.
"When the lower limit rate is imposed, domestic tickets are raised, and the dollar rate continues to rise," he added.
Until Tuesday (Sept 4) afternoon, the rupiah exchange rate transacted between banks in Jakarta appreciated by 15 points to Rp14,795 compared to the previous position of Rp14,810 per US dollar.
