Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Taiwan, through Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Jakarta, is holding the screening of an animated movie entitled "On Happiness Road," as an effort to bridge relations with Indonesia.

"To promote the New Southbound Policy, the government prioritizes people-to-people contact, cooperation on tourism, as well as cultural and educational exchanges," the Head Representative of TETO in Jakarta, John Chen, remarked in his opening speech at the screening of Taiwanese animated film here on Wednesday.

According to him, the animated movie, which tells about the life of a little Taiwanese girl, is one of the means to introduce Taiwanese cultures to the people of Indonesia.

Through this movie, Indonesian people can enjoy the beauty and humanist charm of Taiwan.

For two years, TETO and Taiwan`s Ministry of Culture have been collaborating with Bali International Film Festival, or also known as Balinale, to promote Formosa Island`s films.

At the end of September 2018, there are two Taiwanese films to be screened at Balinale, namely "On Happiness Road" and "GATAO 2-The New Leader Rising."

"On Happiness Road," which is directed by Hsi Yin Sung, was released in Taiwan in January 2018. The animated movie, which is full of images of Taiwanese cultures and society, was completed within four years.

The animated movie, whose production process was subsidized, has won many awards from Taiwan and abroad, including the 2013 Golden Horse Award, the Grand Prize at the Tokyo Anime Festival (Japan) as the best animated movie, the Best Animation Film at the Stuttgart Animation Festival (Germany), and Seoul International Animation Film Festival (South Korea).
