Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Chairman Susanto remarked in a press statement here on Saturday that from the studies conducted, children were infiltrated by radical understanding, among others, through parents and teachers.
"It will be very dangerous if parents and teachers have been infiltrated by radicalism," Susanto stated, adding that prospective brides and prospective teachers need to get guidance on anti-radicalism.
Hence, Susanto noted that parents can not only prevent the transmission of radicalism to children but can also guide them to be more selective in choosing caregivers.
Likewise, with prospective teachers, he added that in the Indonesian context, teachers are not only a source of value for children but also a reference in all matters, including religious and national insights.
"When a teacher has been infiltrated by radicalism, radical terrorism networks will use him or her as an entry point for children," he explained.
Referring to the carnival of kindergarten children using veils and holding toy guns, Susanto revealed that there was no indication of a network of radicalism, but KPAI and the police agreed that any activities using symbols of radicalism should be avoided.
The KPAI chairman noted that although the activity in the carnival of kindergarten children was not intentional, he was afraid that it could lead to a perception of justification, the entrance to radicalism, and could also be a red light for the world of education.
