"The appointment of Erick Thohir as chairman of the National Campaign Team is very appropriate, as his figure will bring success to Jokowi and Ma`ruf," Secretary General of National Strategy Renas 212 JPRI Adnan Rarasina stated when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.
Rarasina noted that the TKN was expected to be professional in organizing all potential support and resources for the Jokowi-Ma`ruf team. Thohir`s success in leading the Inasgoc Asian Games was viewed as being one of his benchmark achievements that would also guarantee his success after becoming the chairperson of the Jokowi-Ma`ruf TKN.
In addition, Rarasina remarked that the appointment of Thohir, as one of the nation`s successful young entrepreneurs, will be another magnet for the younger or millennial generation whose voters reach 40 percent.
"Erick`s experience as an international entrepreneur in various fields, especially in the financial and real sectors, will also greatly help President Jokowi`s economic team to boost the national economy, which is experiencing a slump due to economic shocks in various countries," he explained.
On the other hand, he believes that the coalition of parties supporting Jokowi-Ma`ruf Amin will be more solid, as Thohir is an independent figure.
Meanwhile, speaking in connection with the major task handed over to Thohir, Rarasina noted that in the face of the economy experiencing a shock, Thohir should participate in guarding the Jokowi government`s economic program, especially the strategy to strengthen the exchange rate and increase the number of exports by maximizing the potential of domestic production, such as small and medium industries, creative economy industry, and national tourism potential.
As an entrepreneur with international flight hours, Thohir noted that he will attract international market confidence to invest in the country.
"The conclusion is that Erick`s appointment is very fitting, taking into account his reputation, as both an entrepreneur and leading and organizing all potential support and resources and, of course, attracting millennial voters and mothers," he added.
