Banda Aceh, Aceh, (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit 161 km northwest of Sabang city in the westernmost Indonesian province of Aceh on Friday.

The epicenter of the quake which struck at 02.51 p.m. local time was located at 6.88 degrees northern latitude and 94.28 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 126 km, according to the Mata I`e station of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Aceh Besar.

There was no immediate report of damage.
