BPK will become a member of the Governing Council for the 2018-2021 period, the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi said in a written statement received in Jakarta.
BPK advanced to be a candidate in the election along with six other members, namely Bangladesh, Iraq, Kuwait, Nepal, Pakistan and Russia to fight for five membership seats and won 30 votes out of 38 votes.
Four other member states elected members of the ASOSAI Governing Council are Kuwait, Russia, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Five other members, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, competed for two seats to become the Audit Committee.
Being elected a member of board for the 2018-2021 period, BPK will continue its role in directing ASOSAI`s strategic decisions in the next three years.
This position also provides greater opportunities for BPK to promote its initiatives in various international forums.
In the meantime, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi congratulated and appreciated the achievements of the BPK, which was confirmed to become one of the members of the ASOSAI Government Board.
"The re-election of BPK shows recognition of the BPK`s contribution and its commitment to developing audit capacity in Asia," he said.
In the four-day meeting, Chairman of the BPK Prof. Dr. Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara received the ASOSAI Journal Award.
Some of the issues discussed at the meeting included the ASOSAI financial report for the 2015-2017 period, the Charter amendments and ASOSAI Rules and Procedures, the implementation report of the ASOSAI Renstra 2016-2021, the ASOSAI Capacity Development Activities report and several other issues.
