IDB President Bandar Hajjar stated here on Wednesday that the development partnership was a key pillar of the president`s Five-Year Program (P5P) implemented by the IDB.
Reverse Linkage is a triangular program that connects a country in need of technology and innovation in a particular field with other countries having the technology and innovation needed by the recipient country.
In this case, the IDB acts as a facilitator that brings the two parties together.
The IDB and the ministry introduced a publication titled "Reverse Linkage: Development through South-South Cooperation."
"I believe this publication will be an important contribution for South-South Cooperation and become a source of inspiration for many parties," Hajjar noted.
According to Hajjar, this publication will generate new ideas to overcome development challenges through solidarity-based partnerships and community-based initiatives and ultimately realize the potentials of South-South Cooperation.
Meanwhile, Minister of National Development Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro stressed that international development cooperation was one of the instruments in building mutually beneficial cooperation among countries.
"The Indonesian government sees the importance of development cooperation at the regional and global levels to build Indonesia`s strategic role in overcoming global development challenges," Brodjonegoro noted.
He expressed hope that implementation of the Reverse Linkage initiative would support the efforts made by member countries to increase economic benefits through the international development cooperation mechanism.
In preparing the publication that describes the achievements through the Reverse Linkage mechanism, the IDB works with 30 partners, including Indonesia. The country is one of the most active partners of the IDB in implementing Reverse Linkage.
The Ministry of National Development Planning contributes in the form of an article titled "Indonesia`s Contribution in Developing South-South & Triangular Cooperation."
The article depicts the background of Indonesia`s involvement in Reverse Linkage and the flagship programs initiated by it.
Through the Reverse Linkage collaboration, the Indonesian government demonstrates its strong commitment as a Knowledge Hub in South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
Through a knowledge-sharing framework, Indonesia seeks to encourage the implementation of development cooperation to overcome several challenges. One of the efforts to cope with the challenges is through the Reverse Linkage program.
In addition, through the mechanism, Indonesia has established development cooperation with several countries, such as Kyrgyzstan, Suriname, Morocco, and Tunisia.
The benefits gained from the collaboration are increasing knowledge and expertise in several fields and further economic cooperation.
These outcomes show that Reverse Linkage is an international development cooperation scheme that offers benefits to all parties.
