The event will take place in the evening of Oct 10 at the Ayodya Resort in Nusa Dua, Bali. The guest of honor and keynote speaker will be Vice President Jusuf Kalla, based on a statement from the US Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia received here on Tuesday.
Other ministers scheduled to attend the event include Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime affairs Luhut Panjaitan, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto.
The annual meetings are among the largest international events of the year, and this is the first time Indonesia has hosted the massive gathering. The dinner will honor this landmark occasion and the opportunity it presents to advance the US-Indonesia economic relationship.
The dinner also marks the start of a year-long celebration of the 70th anniversary of US-Indonesia ties.
An audience of nearly 300 senior US and Indonesian business executives will be at hand for the discussions. The recent earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi is expected to be discussed along with ongoing private-sector-led relief efforts.
The organizing committee for the gala, titled "Indonesia: the Journey Forward," comprises the US Chamber of Commerce, US-Indonesia Society, American Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, US-ASEAN Business Council, and AmCham Indonesia.
"The meetings are a major event for Indonesia, and we are thrilled to be working closely with the Indonesian government and our partner organizations to be a part of it," AmCham Indonesia Managing Director Lin Neumann stated.
"The US-Indonesia economic relationship is so important. There is no better way to acknowledge that than through an evening like this that brings together so many key individuals," Neumann remarked.
