"The Ministry of Industry has issued a regulation to increase the level of domestic component use through Minister of Industry Regulation Number 54 of 2012 on Guidelines for the Use of Domestic Products for Electricity Infrastructure Development," Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto noted in a statement received by Antara here, Wednesday.
Airlangga believes that the policy on the use of domestic components and the rapid development of infrastructure will have a two-fold effect, especially in boosting the performance of the national industrial sectors.
"Electricity is like the heart of life in the industrial sector. Hence, it is common for business players keen on investing their capital in Indonesia to always inquire about the availability of electricity supply," he explained.
Apart from having a large business opportunity, the electricity-supporting industry also plays an important role in encouraging socio-economic activities of the people.
Airlangga remarked that the electricity-supporting machinery and equipment industry in Indonesia is growing in line with the increasing demand in the domestic market.
"Our industry has been able to produce everything, from power generation equipment to electricity transmission and distribution," the minister pointed out.
Some electricity-supporting products that have been successfully made by domestic industries, include the main components of generators, such as GIS, boilers, generators, power transformers, pumps, balance of plants, transmission towers, conductors, distribution transformers, and electrical panels.
