Beijing (ANTARA News) - A number of Chinese businessmen are exploring investment opportunities in Jakarta and Ambon (Maluku) by conducting a visit to the two cities from Oct 2 to 9, 2018.

"The entrepreneurs are engaged in the electricity sector, waste management, river cleaning, tropical fisheries and fruits, information technology companies, and sea and air connectivity," the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, said in a written statement to Antara in Beijing on Thursday.

While in Jakarta, he stated that the investors from mainland China have met with a number of officials from the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indonesian-Chinese Cultural Institute, and private parties in Indonesia.

They have obtained direct explanations about Indonesia`s potential and discussed various opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The entrepreneurs also met ranks of officials in Maluku Province, Morotai District, and Ambon City to discuss investment opportunities in the fisheries, tourism, air and sea connectivity, smart cities, and renewable energy sectors.

In Jakarta, the ambassador also had the opportunity to be a guest at the 2018 Maritime National event themed the Prospects of Indonesian Maritime Potential Arrangement for the period 2019-2024, which was held by the Indonesian Maritime Communication Forum (FORKAMI) and the Association of Indonesian Islands and Coastal Regions Government (ASPEKSINDO).
