Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has requested that the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) continue to support Indonesia to boost its economic growth, which currently stands at some five percent.

"We hope IFC can become an institution that creates creativity and openness, because the current growth of five percent is not too high," Sri Mulyani said, in her speech at the "IFC Annual Meeting Client Reception" here on Saturday night.

IFC is an international financial institution established as an affiliate of the World Bank, with the aim of helping finance the development of member countries through lending or participation in the private sector.

The meeting which was held on the sidelines of the 2018 International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank (WB) Annual Meeting in Bali, seeking to strengthen technical cooperation to improve Indonesia`s economic growth.

Sri Mulyani said that the support that IFC can give to Indonesia is to create a sense of development and of innovation, to increase private participation in Indonesia.

"We want many private sectors to enter Indonesia. As a developing country, we want the IFC to be able to ensure that every dollar invested, can be invested in the right sector," said Sri Mulyani, who was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance.

On the occasion, the CEO of IFC, Philippe Le Houerou, provided support for the process of improving the investment climate in Indonesia, and hopes to attract foreign private investors to various sectors.

"We promised the minister of finance that we not only take advantage of opportunities, but also create opportunities. For that, we have agreed to increase the role of the private sector," said Le Houerou.

He also expressed his condolences following the earthquake and tsunami that struck in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara and Palu, Central Sulawesi.
