Fresh lava flows were also seen descending the southeastern flank of Anak Krakatau in the evening, according to a statement of the local meteorology, climatology and geophysics office, quoting Windi Cahya Untuk from the Mount Anak Krakatau observation post, Sunday.
The authorities have declared the volcano is in an alert status and closed to the public within a radius of two kilometers from the mountain`s crater.
Mount Anak Krakatau, which literally means a child of Krakatoa, has a height of 338 above sea.
The renowned volcano Krakatau (or Krakatoa) lies in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra.
Krakatoa is infamous for its violent Plinian eruption in 1883, that destroyed the previous volcanic edifice and enlarged its caldera.
Krakatau forms part of an island group in the ocean, which expanded in the earlier 1900`s following major eruptions.
Mount Anak Krakatau has erupted several times since 2009.
