Head of the Regional Infrastructure Expansion Board (BPIW) of the PUPR Ministry Hadi Sucahyono said BPIW is set to see that loan signing and loan effectiveness for Indonesia Tourism Development Projects would run as expected.
"Loan signing is scheduled to take place on 22 October 2018. and the loan effectiveness is to follow on 1 November 2018," Hadi said.
He said the World Bank is expected to provide US$300 million for the development of tourism sector in Indonesia.
He said the fund is to be used for capacity expansion of institution to facilitate development of integrated and sustainable tourism industry, improvement of road quality, and basic service access in selected tourist areas, encouraging local participation in tourism industry and creation of conducive environment to attract involvement of the private sector in tourism development.
He said US$22 million of the loan fund would be used to facilitate development of integrated and sustainable tourism industry, US$239.6 million for improvement of road quality and basic service access in selected tourist areas, US$37.1 million for local participation in tourism industry and US$1.3 million for creation of conducive environment to attract involvement of the private sector in tourism development.
Earlier the PUPR Ministry said it guaranteed the readiness of infrastructure in 12 priority strategic areas of national tourism to ensure that the target to chalk up 20 million visits by foreign tourists in 2019 could be a reality.
Hadi Sucahyono said in a news release on Monday that BPIW is now busy providing integrated infrastructure in four sectors for the 12 priority strategic areas of national tourism to support the project of "New Bali" tourist destinations.
The four sectors are development of connectivity and residential infrastructure, management of water resources, and provision of housing.
The 12 priority strategic areas are Lake Toba, Tanjung Kelayang, Tanjung Lesung, Pulau Seribu, Borobudur, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, Mandalika, Wakatobi, Labuan Bajo, Morotai, Toraja, and Mandeh.
