During the meeting, the two foreign ministers discussed cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, as the two biggest Muslim countries, to promote peace, tolerance, and peaceful resolution to conflicts.
"The challenges of the world are getting bigger, and it is important to boost the energy of peace and humanity in the midst of these challenges," Marsudi emphasized.
According to the minister, the challenges in realizing peace and stability in the Middle East region are getting bigger, and peace will not be realized without Palestinian independence.
"To this end, we (Indonesia-Saudi Arabia) agreed to continue to cooperate and fight for the achievement of Palestinian independence based on the `two state solution.` The Palestinian issue was discussed on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York last September," she remarked.
Furthermore, the two foreign ministers discussed cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in combating radicalism and terrorism.
"We agreed to increase cooperation in combating radicalism and terrorism, given the increasing dangers," Foreign Minister Marsudi stated.
The minister remarked that the National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) and the Presidency of State Security of Saudi Arabia are committed to intensifying cooperation in combating radicalism and terrorism through the exchange of information and experience, training, and capacity building, among others.
"A draft of the MoU (memorandum of understanding) is being prepared by the BNPT to strengthen the legal basis for increasing cooperation," the Indonesian foreign minister noted.
