Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) has increased during four years of the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla administration, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto stated.

"There is an increase. It means there is an improvement in our nation`s political life," Wiranto remarked at a discussion to highlight four years of the Widodo-Kalla administration at the State Secretariat here on Thursday.

Wiranto noted that the increase in the IDI demonstrated the government`s ongoing efforts to improve the nation`s political life.

According to data of the State Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the IDI had increased to 72.11 in 2017, from 70.09 in 2016, on a scale of 0 to 100.

"There are 26 indicators that democracy in Indonesia has run well," he pointed out.

Wiranto admitted to a decline in some indicators in the IDI but said it can be managed by the Widodo-Kalla administration.

"There are ups and downs in political stability, but it is not a matter of concern," he stated.

Military Chief Air Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto, Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, Deputy Police Chief Comm. Gen. Ari Dono, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L. P. Marsudi, State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucracy Reform Minister Syafruddin, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya, Legal and Human Affairs Minister Yasonna Laoly, and Chief of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency Comm. Gen. Heru Winarko were also present on the occasion.
