Tasikmalaya, West Java (ANTARA News) - Four people were killed and two missing as floods hit a coastal region in Tasikmalaya District, West Java Province, on Tuesday.

"Four people were found dead and two remain missing," Joshua Banjarnahor, spokesman of the West Java search and rescue office, said here, Tuesday evening.

Three sub-districts - Culamega, Cipatujah and Cikalong, were affected by flooding triggered by incessant downpour in Tasikmalaya.

Initially, six peoples were reportedly missing while floods hit several residential areas in the district.

Personnel of the local search and rescue office later managed to find four bodies, and continued to look for two missing persons.

Flash floods also destroyed a bridge in Garut following incessant heavy rains from Monday to Tuesday.

The local authorities have deployed a number of personnel to help flood victims in the district.
