Indonesian, Ukrainian police enhance cooperation in cybersecurity

Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian and his Ukrainian counterpart, Police Chief Serhii Kniaziev, have agreed to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity.

"We have agreed to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity," Karnavian stated after meeting with Ukrainian Police Chief Serhii Kniaziev on the sidelines of the Interpol General Assembly in 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as stated in a statement received by Antara here on Wednesday.

According to Karnavian, the Ukrainian Police has very good experience and reputation in dealing with cybercrime, besides having the latest technology and well-trained personnel.

"The cooperation will be in the form of information exchange and sharing the best experiences in cybersecurity," he stated, hoping that the cooperation agreement can be immediately followed up with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian National Police and the Ukrainian Police.

According to him, the Ukrainian Police Chief has agreed that the signing of MoU will be held in Jakarta in 2019.

"Cooperation in cybersecurity with Ukraine will further strengthen and enhance the readiness of the Indonesian National Police in dealing with various potential of cyber-attacks in the country," Karnavian revealed.

During the meeting, Karnavian was accompanied by Head of International Relations, Inspector General H.S. Maltha, and Secretary of the NCB-Interpol, Brigadier General Napoleon Bonaparte.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Police Chief was accompanied by Head of NCB-Interpol, Vasyl Nevolia.
