"After we conducted investigation, we named six inmates as the masterminds," spokesman for the Aceh Provincial Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ery Apriyono noted here on Saturday.
He said the six inmates had incited rioting that led to 113 inmates escaping from the prison on Thursday evening (Nov 29).
Four of the six inmates were sentenced for drugs offences, while two others were imprisoned for murder, he revealed.
Apriyono said he had ordered police personnel to chase and arrest the masterminds and take stern measures against them.
"The six inmates, believed to be the masterminds behind the rioting and jailbreak at the Lambaro correctional facility in Aceh Besar, will especially be dealt with firmly," he stated.
Only one of the six inmates had been detained by a joint team of personnel, he noted.
"Today, 37 inmates have been arrested in Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar, Pidie, and Lhokseumawe," Chief of the Banda Aceh City Police Senior Commissioner Trisno Riyanto revealed.
Chief of the Aceh Provincial Police Inspector General Rio S. Dampak urged the escaped inmates to surrender at the earliest.
"We ask you to surrender in the next three days," he added.
