Kendari, SE Sulawesi, (ANTARA News) - Southeast Sulawesi recorded a 25.89 percent increase in exports to US$103.5 million in October this year from US$82.21 million in the previous month.

Head of the provincial Central Bureau of Statistic Mohammad Edy Mahmud said iron and steel dominated export commodities accounting for US$71.38 million of the total export value in October.

In the first 10 months of this year, iron and steel exports were valued at US$610.8 million, Edy Mahmud said.

Exports of farm products were valued only at US$0.44 million and manufactured goods at US$73.86 million and minerals at US$29.2 million.

"Manufacturing industry, therefore, contributed 74.02 percent to the total value of exports of the province in the January-October period this year," Edy Mahmud said.

China was the largest buyer for the commodities exported from Southeast Sulawesi. China imported US$648.32 million worth or 74.65 percent of goods from the province in the first 10 months of the year. The second largest buyer was India to which exports were valued at US$114.76 million in the same period and the third was South KOrea to which exports were valued at US$49.05 million.

Imports by Southeast Sulawesi in October 2018 were valued at US$99.21 million, or 138.03 percent higher than in September 2018.
