"East Aceh Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officers took 20 Rohingya immigrants to the Langsa Immigration Office of Class II, and we have communicated with the Langsa City Administration," Head of the Immigration Office Mirza Akbar said on Wednesday.
The 10-gross ton-wooden boat carrying 20 Rohingya immigrants stopped at Blang Geulumpang village in Idi Rayeuk sub-district, East Aceh district, on Tuesday morning.
"We have not received confirmation from the East Aceh district administration about their placement, and we have communicated with the Langsa city administration about the presence of the immigrants here," he remarked.
Akbar explained that none of the 20 Rohingya immigrants held a document. Based on Presidential Regulation No. 25/2016, the temporary presence of the Rohingya immigrants in Aceh was the responsibility of the local government.
Chief of the Idi Marine Customary Institute, Razali Muhammad Ali, pointed out that the Rohingya immigrants were not stranded but intentionally made a stopover at Kuala Idi due to bad weather.
"When they entered Kuala Idi, the engine of the Rohingya immigrants` wooden boat was still on and some 250 liters of fuel were found aboard the boat," he noted.
