Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - Six Indonesian students won silver medals at the 15th International Junior Science Olympics (IJSO) held in Gaborone, Botswana, from December 2-12, 2018.

The six Indonesian junior high school students won five silver medals and one bronze medal, as stated in a statement from the Indonesian Foreign Ministry received by ANTARA here on Friday.

IJSO is an international junior science Olympics for junior high school students to compete in physics, chemistry and biology.

The 2018 IJOS, which saw the participation of students from 50 countries, was organized by the Botswana Ministry of Elementary Education in collaboration with the Botswana Science Association.

In the science Olympics, the participants had to answer questions on theories in the form of multiple choices, and complete practical tests in groups.

The six Indonesian students who participated in the IJSO were Emilda Putri Aulia from Bustanul Makmur Junior High School Banyuwangi, East Java; Nathanael Tjandra from Jakarta Calvin Christian Junior High School; Edward Humianto from Penabur Christian Junior High School Jakarta; Mohammad Nabiel Shafa from Junior High School 115 Jakarta; John Howard Wijaya from Dharma Yudha Pekanbaru Junior High School, Riau; and Arin Nahda Zhafira from Giri Banyuwangi Junior High School, East Java.
