Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency rupiah ended weaker in the last trading day on Friday losing 108 points in inter-bank transaction against the U.S. dollar.

The currency traded at the level of 14,607 per dollar from earlier level of 14,499.

"Chinese economy drew the attention of market investors. The economic indicators of that country showed a slowdown putting pressure on the regional currencies," financial market observer from Bank Woori Saudara Indonesia Rully Nova said.

The slowed down was likely caused by the trading war between China and the United States, Rully said.

He said Chinese industry recorded a decline in production growing only 5.4 percent or lower than last year.

He said China is a major trading partner of Indonesia. Slow down in that country`s economy would have its impact on its trading partners, he added.

Chief researcher of Monex Investindo Futures, Ariston Tjendra said the U.S. dollar gained over most of major currencies in this region on focus of attention of the market players in the Fed fund rate.
