Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo said the central government had granted Lhokseumawe Special Economic Zone permits to support economic growth in the region.

"I have also given the paper. It means that it will only be implemented on the field. I will pursue it," President Joko Widodo said after inaugurating the Banda Aceh-Sigli Toll Road in Aceh Besar on Friday evening (12/14/2018).

According to the President, the regional government must also participate to attract investors to the SEZ.

In addition, SEZs are also planned to be integrated with transportation routes, namely toll roads.

"Later, KEK will be connected with the functioning of this toll road, so once again the employment in Aceh Province is truly open," said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

The government targets the Trans Sumatra toll road to be connected entirely from Aceh Province to Lampung Province in 2024.

Acting Governor of Aceh, Nova Iriansyah, previously explained that the Arun SEZ area has an area of 2,226.64 hectares.

The area is targeted to serve potential investors in a number of sectors such as industry, logistics, energy, exports and even the tourism sector.

In the inauguration of the Toll Road, the Banda Aceh-Sigli section, in addition to the Arun Special Economic Zone in Lhokseumawe, a number of other projects were also inaugurated, the At-Taqarrub Mosque, and the Surabaya flyover.

President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo ended a working visit in Aceh Province on Friday night (14/12) by departing from Sultan Iskandar Muda Aceh Besar Airport to Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru, Riau Province.

On Bumi Lancang Kuning, the President and First Lady will continue the series of working visits.
