Surabaya, E. Java (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of State Enterprises (BUMN) said it hoped the newly completed Trans Java toll road would contribute to the country`s efficiency in logistic system.

"We hope the Trans Java toll road would contribute greatly to the nation distribution system and logistics," secretary of the ministry Imam Apriyanto Putro said here on Thursday.

The toll road would also reduce congestion in non toll arterial roads between the western and eastern parts of the island, Imam said when seeing off a Trans Java toll road expedition.

The expedition, which is also participated in by chiefs executive of a number of related state companies was formed by the Ministry to highlight the official commissioning on Thursday of seven sections of the 760 kilometer toll road by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

The sections of the toll road would be open for the public free from December, 21 this year until January 2019 to coincide with the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"Starting tomorrow the Trans Java toll road may be open for the public," BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno said.

The seven sections of the toll roads commissioned on Thursday total 1999.55 kilometer in length.
