"We received a report at the Metro Jaya Regional Police from someone identified as LI. She reported that there were activities considered inappropriate in football activities, especially in Central Java," Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief, Police Commissioner Argo Yuwono, stated in Jakarta on Thursday.
Based on the report, Yuwono revealed that members of the Anti-Football Mafia Task Force had examined 11 witnesses and submitted a case to increase the status of the examination into investigation.
Members of the task force then moved towards Semarang to arrest suspects, namely A and P in Pati, Central Java.
"The suspect, P, was sent to the Central Java Regional Police, and suspect A was flown to Jakarta," he noted.
As the investigation progressed, members of the task force took Eng, who was also the Chairman of the Central Java PSSI Provincial Association, when he landed at East Jakarta Halim Perdanakusumah Airport from Solo at 11.00 a.m. local time.
Yuwono remarked that the task force team was still examining Eng intensively to explore his roles, motives, and relations with other suspects.
He confirmed that Eng would be held at the Metro Jaya Regional Police headquarters starting from Friday, after undergoing a 24-hour examination.
According to Yuwono, suspect P is a former referee commission, while suspect A is a child of P.
It was reported that Eng was allegedly involved in the practice of setting the score for the 2018 League 3 national football match. The allegation was based on the statement of former Chairman of PSSI Asprov Banjarnegara Budhi Sarwono.
Sarwono, in a talk show broadcasted on national television, claimed to have given Eng Rp1.3 billion as the cost for setting up League 3 of 2018.
