"We will install EWS in three islands near the Anak Krakatau volcano such as the island of Serung," Luhut said when inspecting tsunami command post in Mutiara Carita, and evacuation places in Pandeglang, Banten on Friday.
The early warning systems would minimize the effects of tsunami, he said.
Tsunami triggered by big landslides underwater following continued tremors and eruptions of Anak Krakatau over the past month left at least 425 people dead with tens of other people missing in the coastal areas of Lampung Selatan and Banten last weekend.
"The siren will sound when there is high tide warning the people to evacuate to places safe from tsunami," he said.
Luhut said the people should not be easily cheated by hoaxes about tsunami and rely only on official information.
"The people could rest in peace. There is the government, and there is the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics office, which will continue to monitor the activities of Anak Krakatau volcano," he said.
He said it would take thousands of years before Krakatau would explode again as in 1883, when the effect of tsunami that followed the explosion reached the shores of far away countries like the United States.
"Certainly anything could happen, but the year 1883 was only hundreds of year in the past , but we need to remain on the alert," he said.
