Jakarta, Jan 10 (ANTARA News) - Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates number 01 Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Ma`ruf Amin are ready to face the problems posed by candidate pair number 02 Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno in the upcoming debate.

"Jokowi is experienced in facing debates and political gimmicks, although Amin will need to further familiarize himself with debates," Deputy Chairman of Jokowi-Amin National Campaign Team`s Board of Supervisors, Muhammad Romahurmuziy, stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

He believed that in principle, both Jokowi and Amin are ready to face all subject matters that would be posed by their rivals in the first round of debates between the candidates, scheduled to take place on Jan 17, which involve the issues around human rights, law, corruption, and terrorism.

On the days leading to the debate, the campaign team has formed a group specifically for the debate with their duties including preparing materials and case studies for the candidates.

"The materials that we prepared are in line with the theme that had been previously set out by the General Election Commission. The team has also prepared them for their performance and the use of appropriate phrases and dictions, considering the limited allocated time. The debate will go on for two to three hours, and the presidential and vice presidential candidates would have to convey messages that are clear to the people," Romahurmuziy, popularly known as Romy, who is also the Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), remarked.

When asked about designated mentors for the candidates, he explained that there are no special mentors appointed; however, there are individuals, who are experts in their respective fields, who could contribute to enriching contents and performance.

Romy is optimistic that the debate will lead to an increase in sympathy towards Jokowi and Amin from the people of Indonesia.
