Banda Aceh, Aceh, (ANTARA News) - An earthquake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale, jolted Sabang city, Aceh Province, but it did not have potential to trigger a subsequent tsunami.

"The tremor`s epicenter was located at 7.09 degrees northern latitude and 93.97 degrees eastern longitude, 202 kilometers northwest of Sabang and at a depth of 165 kilometers," Maimun Saleh, Head of the Cot Ba`U meteorology station, said here on Thursday.

The quake occurred at 9:53 a.m. local time and was felt mildly because it was located quite far from Weh Island.
