"It is intended to answer the need for high-speed internet," BAKTI Director Anang Latif said here on Wednesday.
The five operators selected through an auction for satellite capacity supply of 21 Gbps are PT Aplikasinusa Lintasarta, PT Indo Pratama Teleglobal, Konsorsium Iforte HTS, PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara and PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia.
The five-year cooperation worth Rp7.5 trillion will be realized pending the construction of the government`s multi-function satellite in 2023.
The government will hire a satellite which will orbit over the Indonesian territory to meet demand for high-speed internet so that the people living in the foremost, backward and outer regions of the country need not wait until 2023.
"In mid 2019 we can launch high speed internet in Indonesia," he said.
