"Over the past more than 50 years, Indonesia has shared very close relations with Kuwait, even before the two countries proclaimed their independence," he remarked while addressing the commemoration of 58 years of National Day and 28 years of Freedom Day in Jakarta on Thursday night.
In its press statement released on Friday, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Jakarta noted that the two countries supported each other when they nominated for a non-permanent membership of the UN body.
Kuwait is a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2018-2019 term, while Indonesia will be a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2019-2020 term.
"In the trade field, Kuwait is an important partner and Indonesia is one of the countries importing oil from Kuwait. The two countries still have wide opportunities to develop trade cooperation, and we believe the quality of Indonesia`s export goods, such as cooking oil, furniture, spare parts, and construction materials, has met the standard for the Kuwaiti market," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulwahab Abdullah Al-Sager noted that Kuwait`s humanitarian diplomacy in Indonesia currently serves as the vanguard of bilateral cooperation.
"The value of humanitarian assistance reached US$250 million, while the value of investment in the oil sector is more than $2 billion," he stated.
"A delegation from the Garut orphanage (in West Java) is visiting Kuwait. Yesterday, they had the honor of meeting with one of the emirs chairing the humanity communication," he added.
