Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) discussed policies on land use in forest areas, with the aim of providing legal protection to the small people.

"I need to remind you that the policy of utilizing land in this forest area is very important in order to provide legal protection, especially for people who use land parcels that exist in forest areas," the president stated, in his opening remarks in the limited meeting held at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

According to Jokowi, through the use of land, the government aims to get people to benefit from the land concession program for the community.

The president also stated that the process of inventory and verification of land ownership in the forest area must not be complicated and must be quickly resolved.

"The people`s complaints must be resolved quickly," the former governor of DKI Jakarta remarked.

In the meeting, which began at 11.00 WIB (West Indonesia Standard Time), the president was accompanied by Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

A number of officials attending the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil, and Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya.
