"So far, people have been thinking of terrorist networks in Jakarta, in Surabaya, and now in Sibolga. There have never been any voices against terrorists."
Nusa Dua, Badung (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla believed that the 2019 Election can run safely, despite the attack by suspected terrorist Husein, alias Abu Hamzah, and his family in Sibolga, North Sumatra.

"Ahead of the presidential election, everything will be safe. We have had four direct elections; however, it ran well and safe," Kalla stated after opening the "International Reform Symposium and Regional Workshop" in Nusa Dua, Badung District, Bali, on Thursday.

The vice president stated that he greatly appreciated the Anti-Terror Detachment 88 team, which had succeeded in uncovering the terrorist network in Sibolga.

"So far, people have been thinking of terrorist networks in Jakarta, in Surabaya, and now in Sibolga. There have never been any voices against terrorists," he explained.

Kalla was not worried about the security aspect, especially the threat of terrorism, after seeing the strength and capability of the Anti-Terror Detachment 88 team and other officers who were able to overcome the acts of terrorism that had occurred in the country so far.

Previously, National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian remarked that the suspected terrorists who had been arrested by the Detachment 88 Anti-Terror in Sibolga and Lampung were part of a network affiliated with ISIS.

The arrest in Sibolga was the result of the development of a suspected terrorist arrest in Lampung earlier.

The wife of Hamzah allegedly blew herself up in Sibolga. The terrorist’s child was also killed in the explosion.
