"Our products will go to China and Thailand, and hopefully in the future, more superior products will emerge that are ready for export," said the Bengkulu Governor's Expert Staff, Ricky Gunarwan, in Bengkulu.
When releasing export commodities in the form of processed wood from rubber and palm kernel shells at Pulau Baai Port, Gunarwan said that the openness of connectivity through Baai Island Port and Fatmawati Airport (international) would lead to an increase in local revenue from the superior commodity export side.
The export commodities included 823,7407 cubic meters of processed wood valued at 286,566.96 US dollars, equivalent to Rp4.01 billion for China, and 8,500 MTS of palm shells worth 386,750 US dollars, equivalent to Rp.5.4 billion for Thailand.
Processed wood that is ready for export consists of five types of commodities, namely Finger Jointed Wood Rubber, Rubber Wood Molding (S4S), Rubber Wood Finger Joint Laminating, Rubber Wood Laminating Board and Albizia Falcatarina Wood Finger Joint Laminating, which are loaded in 25 containers and will be sent by port Baai Island Bengkulu.
The Head of the Center for Compliance, Cooperation and Information on the Quarantine of the Agriculture Quarantine Agency, Sujarwanto, said that Bengkulu was historically listed as a region rich in quality spices, because the Europeans had come to Bengkulu.
"Bengkulu's wealth as a center of spices such as pepper, nutmeg and ginger must be maintained. Millennials must become the young farmers and exporters of the future," he said
He added that the horticulture potential in Bengkulu is also very abundant, and that neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore desperately need fresh vegetables.
